Compton Fundraising Consultants

Social Welfare Charities

Many household name charities working in the social welfare sector find themselves in a new world in which government funding has been reduced. They need to find additional sources of funding, or gear themselves to bid for contract-based funding. Over the last few years Compton has worked with a wide range of major charities to conduct fundraising strategy reviews, plan major gift campaigns or establish fundraising offices.
Veterans Aid

Veterans Aid is the UK’s one-stop shop for veterans in crisis: the A&E of the veterans sector.

There are around 4.5 million veterans in the UK and over 20,000 men and women leave the Armed Forces every year. A small number of veterans experience problems in civilian life. VA offers a “hand up” not a “hand out” and has an unparalleled track record in breaking the cycle of crisis. Last year VA provided over 22,000 nights of accommodation, handled over 4,000 calls for help and advice and welcomed 600 visitors into its main office in Victoria.

We began work with VA in October 2014 to help raise funds to upgrade and expand the charity’s New Belvedere House hostel in East London. Over £7.4 million has been raised and the new hostel has already welcomed its first residents.

It has been a privilege to work with this pioneering and innovative charity.

Buttle UK- Chances for Children Campaign

Buttle is the UK’s largest grant-giving charity that gives funds directly to children, young people and families - supporting around 30,000 children each year by funding emergency essentials such as beds, fridges and cookers as well as longer term support.

With over 60 years of experience in providing direct grant support, Buttle can draw upon a strong evidence base to show how as little as £1,500, when carefully targeted, can help a family overcome a crisis and create a genuine turning point in their lives.

Buttle's latest report The Real Face of Child Poverty in the UK is based on 125,000 grant applications made over the last 10 years and sets out to investigate the current reality of living on low incomes in the UK today.

We have been working with Buttle on the Chances for Children campaign and helped the charity to raise £1.5 million over the last year from major donors, grant makers and corporate partners in the first phase of this ongoing fundraising drive.
